Classroom Based Training or Workplace Based Training
This qualification reflects the role of individuals who take the first line of management in a wide range of organisational and industry contexts. They may have existing qualifications and technical skills in any given vocation or profession, yet require skills or recognition in supervisory functions. Typically they would report to a manager. At this level frontline managers provide leadership and guidance to others and take responsibility for the effective functioning and performance of the team and its work outcomes.
Units
Students must complete a minimum of 10 units to achieve this qualification consisting of 4 core units and 6 elective units. This Program has
been packaged to meet industry skill sets and the Victorian purchasing guide requirements.

- All students must undertake and be competent in a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment.

Duration
CLASS BASED TRAINING
The program is conducted over a 10 week duration with 8 contact sessions of 7 hours duration. A sample timetable would allocate classes once every two weeks. ASCET TAFE recommends a minimum allocation of 15-20 hours per week to complete tasks in between mentored sessions (2 weeks intervals).
WORKPLACE BASED TRAINING
The program is delivered over a maximum period of 18 months (full-time) or 36 months (part-time). ASCET TAFE recommends an average time of 10 months for the training of this qualification. ASCET TAFE will maintain an average of 50 nominal hours of training commenced each month.

You may be able to reduce the duration of the course by applying for Recognition of Prior Learning or Credit Transfer. The recognition and assessment of skills acquired through life experience, work experience or non-accredited/accredited training programs may be requested through the Recognition of Prior Learning process. AQF Qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by other Registered Training Organisations will be recognised.
Delivery
The training program is delivered via classroom OR workplace based learning. Trainees are guided through the program with the assistance of an instructor from ASCET TAFE. Students undertake pre-reading, formative activities and prepare assignments between session.

Assessment
Assessment is used to provide students with feedback on their progress and to measure their skills and knowledge against the training qualification requirements and those of the industry. Assessment of competency is through the collection of a range of evidence. Students will be required to complete a range of assessment activities including a portfolio of workbooks, activities, documents and assignments. Skills demonstration (workplace observation). Oral questioning.
A final review of student work will take place at the end of the course for the classroom based option.
Outcome / Future Pathways
Upon satisfactory completion of the program, students will receive BSB40807 Certificate IV in Frontline Management, Nationally recognised.
Participants who successfully complete this qualification have the option of a future pathway into BSB51107 Diploma of Management or changing to a different area of study.
