Classroom Based Training OR Workplace Based Training

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who are engaged to manage the work of others or to add value to or review management practices. Their role may be in any industry or organisational setting. Typically people in these roles will have considerable experience in their respective industries or vocational areas and couple an informed perspective of the specific work requirements with their managerial approaches.

BSB51107 Units

Students must complete 8 Units of competency to achieve this qualification consisting of 5 core units and 3 elective units.

Entrance Requirements

  • Students must be currently working at an organisation approved by ASCET TAFE.
  • All students must undertake and be competent in a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment.
  • Students must possess vocational experience or qualifications equivalent to Certificate IV in Frontline Management (or other relevant  qualification), or be able to demonstrate equivalent competence.

CLASSROOM BASED TRAINING

Duration

The program is conducted over an 18 week period with 9 half day classes of 4 hours durations each fortnight.

Delivery

Training units are delivered as a combination of self-directed learning (a minimum self study time allocation of 15-20 hours per week in this program is recommended) and off-the-job formal workshops. It combines face-to-face trainer lead workshops and small group and individual activities, research as well as self-directed learning the use of comprehensive activities.

WORKPLACE BASED TRAINING

Duration

The program is delivered over a maximum period of 18months (full-time), or 36 months (part-time). ASCET TAFE recommends an average time of 10 months for the training of this qualification. ASCET TAFE will maintain an average of 50 nominal hours of training commenced each month.

Delivery

The training program is delivered via workplace based learning. Apprentices/Trainees are guided through the program with the assistance of an instructor from ASCET TAFE and the workplace supervisor. ASCET TAFE will make monthly face-to-face contact with the trainee and the workplace supervisor. It is a requirement of the program that all Apprentices/Trainees are to be withdrawn from routine work duties for a minimum of 3 hours per week averaged over a four week cycle, for the purpose of structured training.
This course is available as a Traineeship. Eligibility requirements apply.

Assessment

Assessment is used to provide students with feedback on their progress and to measure their skills and knowledge against the training qualification requirements and those of the industry. The assessment process will include both theory and practical elements and is completed via workbook activities, oral questioning, observations and a portfolio of evidence containing the completed activities and assignments.

You may be able to reduce the duration of the course by applying for Recognition of Prior Learning or Credit Transfer. The recognition and assessment of skills acquired through life experience, work experience or non-accredited/accredited training programs may be requested through the Recognition of Prior Learning process. AQF Qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by other Registered Training Organisations will be recognised.

Outcome / Future Pathways

Upon satisfactory completion of the program, students will receive BSB51107 Diploma of Management, Nationally Recognised.
