Classroom Based Training
This qualification reflects the role of individuals who use well-developed skills and a broad knowledge base in a wide variety of contexts. They apply solutions to a defined range of unpredictable problems, and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources. They may provide leadership and guidance to others with some limited responsibility for the output of others.
Units
Students must complete a minimum of 8 units to achieve this qualification consisting of 8 core units. This Program has been packaged to meet industry skill sets and the Victorian purchasing guide requirements.

Entrance Requirements
- All students must undertake and be competent in a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment.
- Students must possess extensive vocational experience in project-based work or qualifications equivalent to Certificate III in Business or other relevant qualifications or be able to demonstrate equivalent competence.
Job Roles
Job roles and titles vary across different industry sectors. Possible job titles relevant to this
qualification include:
- Project coordinator
- Project team manager
- Project management officer
- Project or program administrator
Duration
The program is conducted over a 4 month duration with 9 contact sessions of 4 hours duration. A Sample time table would allocate classes once every two weeks. ASCET TAFE recommends a minimum allocation of 16 hours per week to complete tasks in between mentored sessions (2 week intervals).
You may be able to reduce the duration of the course by applying for Recognition of Prior Learning or Credit Transfer. The recognition and assessment of skills acquired through life experience, work experience or non-accredited/accredited training programs may be requested through the Recognition of Prior Learning process. AQF Qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by other Registered Training Organisations will be recognised.
Delivery
Training units are delivered in a classroom setting. It combines face to face trainer led workshops and small group and individual activities, research as well as the completion of project tasks contained in the comprehensive workbooks.
This course is also available as a Traineeship, or through Work based delivery. Eligibility requirements apply.
Assessment
Assessment is used to provide students with feedback on their progress and to measure their skills and knowledge against the training qualification requirements and those of the industry. The assessment process may include written and practical presentations, observation, and may require some time away from the workplace to complete assignments and self-directed exercises.
Outcome / Future Pathways
Upon satisfactory completion of the program, students will receive BSB41507 Certificate IV in Project Management, Nationally Recognised.
Participants who successfully complete this qualification have the option of a future pathway into BSB51407 Diploma of Project Management.
