Classroom Based Training OR Workplace Based Training

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who are engaged to manage the work of others or to add value to or review management practices. Their role may be in any industry or organisational setting. Typically people in these roles will have considerable experience in their respective industries or vocational areas and couple an informed perspective of the specific work requirements with their managerial approaches.

BSB51107 Units

Students must complete 8 Units of competency to achieve this qualification consisting of 5 Elective group A units and 3 elective units.

This program has been packaged to meet industry skill sets and the Victorian Purchasing Guide requirements.

Entrance Requirements

  • Students must be currently working at an organisation approved by Ascet Tech.
  • All students must undertake and be competent in a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment.
  • Students must possess vocational experience or qualifications equivalent to Certificate IV in Front line Management (or other relevant  qualification), or be able to demonstrate equivalent competence.

CLASSROOM BASED TRAINING

Duration

The program is conducted over an 18 week period with 9 half day classes of 4 hours durations each fortnight.
Courses are run regularly throughout the year. Please contact Ascet Tech for exact course dates.

Delivery

Students are provided with a textbook and online resources using Training Virtual Campus Moodle. Students using the E-Learning resources will have the option of printing the full paper based resources, to support their learning experience. Students are required to undertake pre-reading, formative activities and prepare assignments between sessions. They are required to present practical assignments in the mentored sessions as part of the evidence gathering process. The written assignments and practical assignments are compiled into a portfolio. A minimum self study time allocation of 15 - 20 hours per week in this program is recommended for students.

 

WORKPLACE BASED TRAINING

Duration

BSB51107 Diploma of Management is delivered as workplace based over a period of a nominal period of 8 months full time. 8 contact visits, one per month, over 8 months.

Delivery

Students are guided through the program with the assistance of an instructor from ASCET Tech and their nominated workplace supervisor. The program is delivered via Workplace Training (WPT) and on the job assessment. Students are provided with training materials for each unit, including theoretical knowledge, self-directed exercises and reference materials and are expected to manage time effectively in order to progress through units at an appropriate pace. Students are provided with a textbook and online resources using Training Virtual Campus Moodle.

Assessment

Assessment is used to provide students with feedback on their progress and to measure their skills and knowledge against the training qualification requirements and those of the industry. The assessment process will include both theory and practical elements and is completed via a portfolio of assessment tasks, activities, documents, assignments, and oral questioning, observations.

You may be able to reduce the duration of the course by applying for Recognition of Prior Learning or Credit Transfer. The recognition and assessment of skills acquired through life experience, work experience or non-accredited/accredited training programs may be requested through the Recognition of Prior Learning process. AQF Qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by other Registered Training Organisations will be recognised.

Outcome / Future Pathways

Upon satisfactory completion of the program, students will receive BSB51107 Diploma of Management, Nationally Recognised.

After achieving the BSB51107 Diploma of Management, students can undertake BSB60407 Advanced Diploma of Management, or a range of other Advanced Diploma qualifications.
